While Asian cities have been criticized in a lack of public green spaces, indeed they hold a lot of private greenery. I have been focusing on this private greenery and carrying out cadastral-scale per-lot field surveys on urban greenery and its ecosystem services in residential districts in several Asian cities. This study can provide basic and crucial information for practical urban green management in Asian cities developed onto rice fields, where private landholding is inherent and influential. I would hope to propose “parcel dynamics for Asian urban greenery” instead of patch dynamics.
